Vets Beyond Borders is seeking applications for staff positions on the Vet-Train team. This six-month pilot programme entails the formation of a clinical team to deliver concise and carefully-targetted training to Indian veterinarians and para-veterinarians. This programme aims to enhance and standardise the quality of veterinary services provided by veterinary personnel working with animal welfare groups in India.

The Latest from Leh
The Leh Street Dog Sterilization Project for 2008 has had help from volunteers from Australia, Poland, the US, Canada and New Zealand. These fantastic volunteers from all over the world have helped desex and rabies vaccinate more than 500 dogs so far. The programme has been very busy this season with the building the new clinic which is nearly complete, and the team has also run a number of rabies vacination camps in regional Ladakh.

Dog Catching and Handling Workshop
During his visit to Ladakh, Dr Johnson gave a 3 day Dog Capture and Handling Workshop. The workshop was attended by staff and representatives of LACS, Help in Suffering (Jaipur), the SARAH programme (Sikkim), Welfare of Stray Dogs (Mumbai) and the Snow leopard Conservancy (Leh), as well as Vets Beyond Borders volunteer vets. The relatively informal settings encouraged valuable discussions whereby everyone felt comfortable to ask questions and contribute the benefit of their experiences.

Meet An Amazing Volunteer, Dr Rebecca Traub
Rebecca Traub was born in Perth, Western Australia and brought up in Calcutta. After doing the usual spate of locum work in the UK and small animal practice in Perth, she decided to undertake a PhD on the epidemiology of canine parasitic zoonoses in tea-growing communities in Assam, India. Rebecca currently works as a Lecturer in Veterinary Public Health at the University of Queensland.
